Empress Tree Seeds — Fast-Growing Beauty for Every Gardener

To grow an Empress tree from seed, surface sow the very small seeds onto a moist, well-draining soil, as they need light to germinate and will not grow if buried. Keep the soil consistently moist, not wet, and provide a warm environment (around 65-80°F/18-27°C). A sunny location or a grow light is crucial for germination, which can occur within 10-30 days.

Step-by-step guide:
Prepare the soil: Use a moist, very well-draining soil mix, such as one enriched with organic compost or manure.

Sow the seeds: Sprinkle the tiny seeds thinly over the surface of the soil. Do not bury them, as they require light to germinate.

Maintain moisture and light: Cover the seed tray or pot with plastic to create humidity and cover it to hold moisture in. Place the container in a sunny location or under a grow light.

Provide warmth: The ideal temperature range for germination is around 65 to 80°F (18-27°C).
Water gently: Water the soil with a sprinkler or mist, being careful not to use a high-pressure stream from a pipe, as this could damage the seedlings.

Monitor for germination: Seeds typically germinate within 10 to 30 days.
Transplant seedlings: Once the small white roots appear, you can carefully transfer the germinated seeds to soil.

Tips for success:
Humidity is crucial: Covering the container helps maintain the necessary humidity for germination.
Gentle watering: A fine mist or sprinkler is best for watering to prevent washing the seeds away.
Light exposure: The seeds need light to trigger germination.
Use fungicide: Adding a mild fungicide to the soil can prevent the damping-off disease, a fungal growth that kills seedlings, especially when soil is too wet.
