Burdock Roots for Sale

Burdock roots
Burdock root (Arctium lappa L.), also known as Greater Burdock or Jangli Kuth, is a medicinal and edible plant associated with the Himalayan region. India's Pharmacopoeia documentation specifically records Arctium lappa in the sub-alpine regions of Jammu and Kashmir, and lists the root as the principal part used.

The plant has also been documented around Srinagar, Kashmir, where it is recognized as Greater Burdock.

Burdock Root as a Kashmir Botanical Resource
Burdock is a robust biennial/perennial herb of the Asteraceae family. It develops large leaves during its first growth stage and produces a substantial taproot. The root can be harvested for drying, botanical research, herbal preparations and, depending on the material and regulations, food applications.
Kashmir has a rich tradition of using medicinal plants, with roots and other underground plant parts forming an important component of local ethnobotanical practices.

Burdock root is particularly interesting because it has both culinary and traditional herbal uses. In East Asian cuisines, the root is cultivated as a vegetable and is commonly known as gobo in Japan.

Traditional Uses
Historically, burdock root has been used in European and Asian traditional medicine for a variety of purposes, including traditional preparations associated with skin complaints and inflammatory conditions

Modern research has investigated constituents of Arctium lappa, including polyphenols and other bioactive compounds, but traditional use should not be presented as proof that burdock treats or cures a disease.
